| Rising Gas Prices Affect Automotive Dealerships |
5 Aug |
As the needle on the fuel gauge seems to reach “E” a lot faster these days, there appears to be no shortage of people or companies affected by the high cost of gas. The automotive industry is one of the hardest hit, especially car dealerships.
Alongside the travel and airline industry, automotive manufacturers and car lots are suffering huge financial losses. Just the other day as I was driving through an area that was populated with such dealerships, I could see than many lots were practically giving SUV’s and trucks away at dirt cheap prices.
It was an auto mechanic or car lover’s paradise. Kinda made me wonder if there were any takers.
I personally don’t know of anyone who would even accept these gas-guzzlers even if they were given to them as gifts. I mean, a few friends of mine have resorted to purchasing motorcycles and mopeds in an effort to save gas. Another friend, who lives relatively close to work, bought a simple ten-speed to get back and forth!
Only a mad man would buy an SUV or truck right now.
As a consumer, all I can say is that I truly hope Congress can come up with a viable, eco-friendly solution to the gas crisis. This will perhaps end massive automotive industry layoffs and aid the economy towards a much needed resurgence.
